Furthering Truth and Reconciliation in Public Space and Mobility Planning – a Crescent Road Master Plan Case Study Walking Tour

Date:
May 11, 2023

Location:
Crescent Heights, Calgary, AB

Time:
12:00 PM (MST)

Crescent Road is a popular street in Calgary for many reasons.  It offers spectacular views of downtown, the Bow River, and the mountains.  It has walking paths, trails along the bluff space, and an adaptive bike lane.  Crescent Road connects the communities of Rosedale and Crescent Heights to thoroughfares like Centre Street and 10 Street N.W.  Crescent Road has become a gathering point for residents and visitors, and its popularity has and created both issues and opportunities.

Join members of the project team for a walking tour of Crescent Road who will describe how the project team drew upon the knowledge of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Elders to strengthen the project outcomes. The project team will share the lessons learned about using transportation projects to further the Truth and Reconciliation process.

Plan to meet in the community of Crescent Heights, exact meeting location and walking tour map to be shared closer to the event with registrants.
